Our New Plug-in Gallery Offers One-Click Access to Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Other Sites
New Skins Offer a More Personalized Experience
We are pleased to announce today's launch of an updated beta version of Web Mail, beta.webmail.aol.com, which now offers users one-click access to their Gmail and Yahoo! Mail accounts and other popular sites, customization capabilities and over-the-air mobile sync of Calendar and Address Book.
Plug-in to a New Mail Experience
Web Mail's new plug-in gallery offers more than 30 plug-ins and gadgets, including four plug-ins showcasing use of Google's open standard for container development. Users can place an unlimited number of plug-ins on a customizable toolbar on the right-hand side of the page, providing easy access to AIM, popular websites, third-party e-mail accounts, stock updates, weather and much, much more.
A new set of APIs will also be made available to third party developers and advertisers interested in creating special themes and plug-ins for the site. For now, third-party developers can sign-up on http://dev.aol.com/mail for more information on creating plug-ins.
Skins-tastic!
Users can choose from more than 45 new "skins" or themes to personalize the Web Mail page.

Stay in Sync with Yourself
This newest version of Web Mail also includes over-the-air mobile sync of Calendar and Address Book, allowing users to make real-time updates to both applications from a variety of wireless devices including the BlackBerry and iPhone. In addition, this version of the product includes true iCal support, giving users the opportunity to create a calendar or subscribe to an existing one from a third-party provider.
We are planning to make the product available for general release in January. In the meantime, leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

2. Can you add a Comcast Mail plug-in sometime soon? That would be great!

3. Since I requested installation of the toolbar, much of my email displays the heading while the rest of the email (message) is blank. I've tried everything I can think of to reset this mornings' blog but nothing works. I don't have time enough to write or call each person to find out what he was trying to say; has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it? I'm not the most literate computer user in the world so keep it simple, if possible. Thanks.. Barbara

4. One feature request that would make all you've done perfect. Give the option (paid service if necessary) to remove taglines on emails and ads from the interface. It'd be well worth $20/yr to have the beautiful interface and functionality here cleaned of extraneous and claustrophobic ads. It's simply the best email/calendar interface I've ever seen.

8. Love this concept. What I'd like to see is a couple of things:
First, apply these concepts to the AOL Mail RIA app. The rich environment provided by Silverlight is stunning and it looks very published.
Second, since there is a lot of screen available, allow for there two be 2 plugin columns. That way you could have AIM running as well as see your Events or To Do lists. There would be by my eye, still plenty of real estate to display the mail list and even the reading pane.

9. Also, at least for me, in Firefox 3, the "drag to rearrange" the plugin buttons feature is not working.
