1. The change seems to have put me into Basic Mail. When I click on Standard(?) Mail I'm asked to update my browser, Safari. But I'm already using the latest Safari, 4.0.11. What should I do?

2. Correction to my previous: my version of Safari is 4.0.3. It's my version of OS X which has the "11", being 10.4.11.

4. I'm being told that I have to update my web browser because AOL Webmail REQUIRES a MINIMUM of Firefox 3.0. Since I am using Firefox 3.5.3, I'm way ABOVE the minimum but I'm told I have to upgrade? Is it because I use Mac OS? Is this another part of AOL's vendetta against Mac OS users? Or did you "neglect" to mention a minimum version of the Mac OS, such as 10.6.2?
Next I tried to use Safari 4.0.3 and was told that I needed at LEAST Safari 3! Hello, last time I looked, Safari 4 was NEWER than Safari 3
Furthermore, I use other web browsers such as the Firefox sibling Camino, and iCab and it is ridiculous that I can't access AOL with them.
I have been a paying member of AOL for almost 21 YEARS; in fact I'm one of the ORIGINAL "Charter Members" (though I suspect that I'm the only one remaining) and have watched with dismay as AOL continues decline.

5. I am also having this same problem. I've been reduced to Basic Mail even though I have the latest Firefox browser. I even tried redownloading Firefox, and still no success. When I try to access standard, I still get an error message that I need the latest web browser. AOL... Can you fix this?

6. @aol: Thanks for your feedback and reports. We're working on fixing this as I am typing this.

7. The themes are nice. When will Halloween themes be available? I didn't see any.

8. @all: In case you have the weird "basic" webmail problem but have the latest browser, can you go to http://www.getright.com/useragent.html and post the user agent you are getting back?
This will help us identify the issue

9. @all: If you are having the issue of getting basic even though you have Firefox 3.0 or older. It seems some Firefox installations still think they are Firefox 2.0. While we are working on a fix, you might want to try the solution posted on the mozilla support site: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US&forumId=1&comments_parentId=67725

12. I cannot open up my emails in standard version. I can see them on my home page but cannot view them
Posted at 4:28PM on Oct 15th 2009 by nancy Dressler
13. @Dressler: What browser are you using? What does "can't open" mean? Are you clicking on them and nothing happens? If you are using IE6 or 7 can you try Firefox or upgrading to IE8? Let me know if any of this helped.

14. Yes, I'm clicking on them and nothing happens. Here is my info: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/523.10.3 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0.4 Safari/523.10

15. I am having the same issues as reader comments 1 - 5. I HATE ths changes. It does not work as smooth as it previously did. I can delete the SPAM folder AS Spam like I was able to do. It reminds me of early versions of AOL. Not very user friendly - certainly not colorful! I can hardly wait until you change it back!!!

16. In reply to Comment 8 above re user agent, here is the one when I use Camino: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090925 Camino/1.6.10 (like Firefox/2.0.0.23)
and this is the one when I use Safari:Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10_4_11; en) AppleWebKit/531.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.3 Safari/531.9
Although I have been using the latest version of Safari I thought I'd try downloading it again via the 'get Standard Version [of AOL mail]' but it has made no difference.
Like others above, I've been with AOL for many years. A pity these problems weren't spotted in the Beta version.

17. I have a Compuserve webmail account (powered by AOL), migrated from Compuserve Classic.
My spam folder has not been cleared of old messages by the system for over a month now. It used to clear old spam aftre five days.
HAs somthing been changed or is there a fault?

18. That's it for aol -- your mail service is awful under the best of circumstances -- now, after your "upgrade" every time i try to get to my inbox it takes me back to the noticve that my email has been upgraded. Great job! I get constant news that my email has been graded but i can;t get to my email. Just end the misery and incompetence and go broke already.

19. I love the new themes for AOL mail. I love the Spring theme that I have for my AOL homepage. How I can apply that to my AOL Mail page?
Posted at 10:03AM on Oct 16th 2009 by kac3502
20. For Firefox 3.5.3: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3
For Safari 4.0.3: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10_4_11; en) AppleWebKit/531.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.3 Safari/531.9
Using Safari's User Agent item in the Develop Menu, I changed my User Agent to Internet Explorer 8:
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; Trident/4.0)
but I'm STILL told to upgrade!
