We made a promise to you, our users, to not only keep improving our mail service, but to keep you better informed of the improvements and changes we make.
With that in mind, we're pleased to say that we've increased the size limit for email attachments from 16MB to 25MB. Now you can send larger files, bigger photos and videos or whatever you want to your family and friends.
You can add an attachment by just clicking the paper clip icon located on the toolbar of a message you're writing.

Thanks for choosing AOL Mail.

ok
That's pretty funny... I just tried to send an attachment that was 8 mbs and it wouldn't go thru...I kept gettin' a comment that the attachment may be to big..... so what's up with that???? EVEN thou it was under 16 mbs before.... It STILL wouldn't go thru... I've had to send stuff larger than 5 mbs by way of another email service... I must say it's a real major pain in the back side.

Robert
What were you using to send this mail? Using http://webmail.aol.com or something else?
The same thing happens to me!
I had the same problem today. Please tell us how to get it to work. I sign on in webmail.aol.com
What type of connection are you using? What browser?
broadband - internet explorer
It does not work. Possibly expand it larger. I just tried to send a document under 10mbs and it would not go. I sent it through another email service as well. Please fix this feature. I have been a loyal aol member for more than 15 years :(
I have been trying to email an attachment all night that is 2.7 MB, and after a LONG period of "sending" I get the error message that it is too large. In addition, when it is sending, all the other sites I have open lose their connection, as does the AIM.
I did send an attachment tonight that is 172 KB, and that went just fine.
It IS a major pain in the rear.
Of course! I always do
You can attach any file you want. There never was a restriction.
ken did you get the info you needed if will you pass it on to me thanks debrbrtly
Hello.....does this apply to embedded images as well. Using this new MAC OS X,
and AOL Webmail, I have difficulty getting images to "hold" when I send multiple
emails using the same embedded image to other receipients - I do a cut and paste
on embedded images. My first receipients have no problems reading images;
however second receipients get "blanks." Using version 9.0 with windows XP I
could do this very easy.
Thanks for your help and keep up the good work..... Floyd Chambers
Yes. To properly embed images please use the "Insert Image" button in webmail. Cutting and pasting doesn't always work, since cut and past only inserts the location of your picture into the mail. If the picture is hosted on a server on the internet the recipient can see it - if it's on your harddisk though it won't work for your recipient. Using the insert image feature ensures that the image is actually part of the mail so anyone can see it.
Yep, same problem with Mac. Good tip below your comment though. DId not realize that it only "holds the spot". Although, I have done cut/copy/paste into the body with no problem, even though on my hard drive.
Also, I have had the same crap with files as small as 2 mb keep saying "sending, sending, sending" then crap out and get a message "File may be too large". I can send using my Mac Mail program or going on my windows machine and using AOL software instead of the Web based mail. An AOL tech told me to use the "dumbed down" version of AOL webmail (which seems to have fewer features) but can send large attachments using that site. Someone had the link in a comment above or below.
Been an AOL use since 1995. It blows, but don't want to lose my e mail addresses so many friends and colleagues have my e mail addresses.
Note that when you cut and paste or drag and drop an image into Mail.app, for whatever reason it wants to send it as TIFF, which can make for huge files. It does this regardless of the original's format.
If you use the attach function, it goes in the file format you saved.
